Emancipation

Emancipation is basically a legal way for a minor to become an adult before he or she is 18 years old. An emancipated minor is free from custody and control of his or her parents. An emancipated minor is able to live where he or she pleases, enroll in school or college, and receive medical care without parental consent.
Limitations
There are, however, limitations on an emancipated minor. An emancipated minor still cannot get married with parental consent and must attend school.
Not all minors may be emancipated. In order for a judge to issue a declaration of emancipation, the minor must meet strict qualifications such as being at least 14 years old, be able to handle their own money, and have a legal way to earn money.
