Restraining Order Overview

In order for LEGALREMEDY.NET, INC. to assist you, the abuse must have occurred within the last thirty days. You must also have a close relationship with the person (married or registered domestic partners, separated, dating or used to date, live together or used to live together), or you must be related (parent, child, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather, or in-law).


A restraining order may prevent a batterer from contacting or going near you, your children, other relatives, or others that live with you. A restraining order may prevent the batterer from possessing a gun. The batterer may be ordered to move out of the residence if he or she resides with the victim. Child support and visitation orders may be enforced. The batterer may also have to pay child, spousal, or partner support.
